aventron has signed financing agreements for the 50 MW Bargas solar power plant and is starting the construction phase of the 95-hectare project near Toledo, Spain. The Bargas project is one of the first of its kind in which electricity from renewable energy is produced and fed into the grid entirely without subsidies (subsidy/feed-in tariff).
The debt financing for the realisation of the 50 MW Bargas project was concluded with Banco Sabadell. It is a free-standing photovoltaic plant with single-axis tracking of the modules. This ensures that the PV modules are always at an optimal angle to the sun and increases the energy yield. The general contractor Solarpack Corporacion Tecnologica S.A. has been commissioned with the construction of the plant and is now tackling the approximately nine-month construction period. When commissioned, the Bargas solar power plant will supply 95 GWh of clean electricity to the grid annually, free of subsidies.
This is an important milestone for aventron. On the one hand, the group's installed capacity will rise well above 500 MW and the share of solar energy in the portfolio will be strengthened. This is very complementary to the existing wind and hydropower portfolio and strengthens the diversification of production overall. On the other hand, aventron proves with this project that large solar power plants can already be operated competitively today without subsidies and free of feed-in tariffs. Dr. César Alcazar Santos, Head of aventron España SL: "As a committed player in the European energy sector, we are helping to shape the future and making a significant contribution to renewable electricity production. After 3 years of intensive work and close collaboration with our local development partner, we are proud to now enter the construction phase of the 50 MW Bargas solar project."
The Bargas project is one of the first of its kind and pioneering for the further course of the European energy transition.
